We are excited to share our progress and report on our activity during the first quarter of Fiscal Year 2023 (July – September 2022).

Continuing with another strong quarter, SBGP is proud and grateful for the ability to consistently continue to serve the community. While upholding core values and high standards of practices, SBGP has worked closely with neighborhood leaders, City agencies, and other partners to channel funds into important and necessary community programs and projects within the District.

This quarter SBGP:

  • Secured $47.7 million with partners to build wetlands around the Middle Branch as part of the Middle Branch Resiliency Initiative (MBRI), a nationally significant project to restore wetlands, improve water quality, and enhance resiliency along the Middle Branch of the Patapsco River.
  • Continued implementing $1.2 million in trash cleanup and sanitation funds combining programs from prior years with a major new addition of Enhanced Services funds for a large-scale pilot program to dramatically improve the cleanliness of the District.
  • Introduced new Clean and Green Grants, a new funding opportunity separate from the Community Grants program, that will support neighborhood organizations seeking to do cleaning and greening projects in the District.
  • Selected MCN Build and JRS Architects – as a team MCN|JRS – as the design-build team for the renovation and reopening of the Carroll Park Recreation Center, which is expected to be completed in early 2024.
  • Selected awards for the Summer 2022 Community Grants (Cycle 10) with a total of 11 grants receiving $346,735 in funding.
  • Kicked off a newly developed, free “Nonprofit Boot Camp” workshop series designed to support nonprofit program managers and leaders.
  • Finalized the financial audit for FY22 and SBGP’s independent auditors once again issued an unmodified (clean) audit opinion.
  • Hired for new staff positions to help manage increased funding and growing project portfolios; the new program managers started in July 2022.
