We are pleased to share our progress and report on our activity during the first quarter of Fiscal Year 2022.
With a strong beginning to the first quarter, SBGP is proud and grateful for the ability to consistently continue to serve the community. While upholding core values and high standards of practices, SBGP has worked closely with neighborhood leaders, City agencies, and other partners to channel funds into important and necessary community programs and projects within the District.
This quarter SBGP:
- announced $6 million of additional funding for parks in the District, including a $2 million overhaul to reopen the currently shuttered Carroll Park recreation center and $1 million each to Solo Gibbs and Florence Cummings Parks supporting their master plans.
- awarded $550,500 of funding supporting 13 projects in our eighth Community Grants cycle.
- celebrated significant milestones for Reimagine Middle Branch, including:
- completion of a Fellowship program with Morgan State students.
- community event “Splash!” held in Middle Branch Park with over 260 attendees.
- over 300 completed Park Use Outreach surveys.
- additional funding for wetland restoration.
- increased funding to add stadium lighting at the BGE Field located at the Middle Branch Fitness & Wellness Center in Cherry Hill.
To date, we have committed over $15.3 million to 331 projects across the District, ranging from small community grants to large capital projects. An additional $7.7 million of projects were in development for a total mobilization of approximately $23.1 million.
