We are excited to share our progress and report on our activity during the first quarter of Fiscal Year 2024 (July – September 2023).

Continuing with another strong quarter, SBGP is proud and grateful for the ability to consistently continue to serve the community. While upholding core values and high standards of practices, SBGP has worked closely with neighborhood leaders, City agencies, and other partners to channel funds into important and necessary community programs and projects within the District.

This quarter, SBGP:

  • Began the renovation of the Carroll Park Recreation Center, which had previously been shuttered for almost twenty years. Renovation completion is anticipated for spring 2024.
  • Sponsored the 7th Annual Cherry Hill Arts and Music Waterfront Festival at Middle Branch Park hosted by the Youth Resiliency Initiative, which took place on July 4, 2023. The free event and fireworks were enjoyed by over 3,500 attendees.
  • Kicked off and closed the Summer 2023 Community Grants application cycle and continued hosting free, professional development “Keys to Capacity” workshops.
  • Moved forward with design and permitting for the first stage of the Middle Branch Resiliency Initiative (MBRI) wetland restorations with additional sites to follow. Construction permits and a groundbreaking ceremony for the first wetland restoration are being planned.
  • Committed $1 million to support the planned transformation of The B&O Railroad Museum. SBGP’s funding will support the planned restoration of the South Car Works Building and create open community space as part of the museum’s new master plan.
  • Continued developing the Community Development Fund’s strategy and procedures and issued an RFP and selected a consultant to provide underwriting capacity and overall fund process management. SBGP expects to formally announce this new program in the second quarter of FY24.
  • Finalized the financial audit for FY23 along with SBGP’s first Single Audit, and SBGP’s independent auditors once again issued unmodified (clean) audit opinions.
