We are pleased to share our progress and report on our activity during the second quarter of Fiscal Year 2022.
Continuing the year with a strong second quarter, SBGP is proud and grateful for the ability to consistently continue to serve the community. While upholding core values and high standards of practices, SBGP has worked closely with neighborhood leaders, City agencies, and other partners to channel funds into important and necessary community programs and projects within the District.
This quarter SBGP:
- celebrated the completion of the BGE Field presented by Kelly Benefits in Reedbird Park with a ribbon-cutting ceremony. This 83,000 square foot multipurpose turf field with professional lighting is the first completed element of the $23 million Middle Branch Fitness and Wellness Center in Cherry Hill.
- achieved significant milestones for Reimagine Middle Branch, including:
- allocating an additional $2M to the project based on meaningful progress to date.
- raising approximately $16M along with partners to support wetland restoration around the Middle Branch.
- issued a Request for Proposals for the renovation of the Carroll Park Recreation Center, a $2M project funded by SBGP’s Enhanced Services program.
- onboarded Summer 2021 cycle Community Grantees, prepared for the Winter 2022 Community Grants cycle, and continued providing Keys to Capacity professional development and networking opportunities for community members.
To date, we have committed over $22.9 million to 351 projects across the District, ranging from small community grants to large capital projects. An additional $7.2 million of projects were in development for a total mobilization of approximately $30.1 million. Reflecting SBGP’s commitment to an equitable model of investing, approximately 76 percent of program funding to date has been invested in low-income communities and communities of color within the District.
