Juneteenth recognizes the date of June 19, 1865, when news of the Emancipation Proclamation, outlawing slavery, finally reached Galveston, Texas – almost 2 ½ years after it was enacted in 1862. SBGP will be closed Monday, 6/19 in observance of Juneteenth.
