Community Input Meeting #2 – Conway Street Park North Plaza Project (in-person, outside)

Join the South Baltimore Gateway Partnership and Ridgely’s Delight, in partnership with EnviroCollab and CityScape Engineering for a second input session to discuss the master plan  and schematic design for the Northern Plaza of Conway Street Park! This afternoon gathering and design workshop will take place on Saturday, May 20th in-person, outside in Conway Street Park (601 W. Conway St., Baltimore, MD 21230) with kids’ art activities! Rain date is Sunday, May 21st from 2:00 – 4:00pm. BYO snacks and beverages. Read the FAQs about this project here.

At the event:

  • The draft Master Plan and North Plaza Concept Design Plan will be displayed on boards for community input via sticky notes.
  • For additional feedback the Design Team will share proposed selections for North Plaza materials relative to site furnishings, hardscape, and planting.
  • The input gleaned from that event will inform the final Master Plan, and the Schematic Design documents for North Plaza, which will move into future phases of documentation for construction.

The presentation from the first meeting (held April 17th, 2023) is now available.

About the project: In the mid-1980s, brick paving was added to the neighborhood in conjunction with the redesign of Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. Everything south of Conway Street was torn down to create the highway right of way, and some of that area became Conway Street Park where the State planted trees and put in brick sidewalks. Conway Street Park is approximately 70,666 square feet and the adjoining brick plaza on the residential side is 6,800 square feet. The brick, “North Plaza,” is currently in disrepair, limiting its potential as an inclusive, beautiful community gathering space. This project will design a restored North Plaza, an improved, ADA accessible, usable space for the community that will also support tree health and minimize root impact on the future Plaza’s surface.
