Many individuals serving nonprofit organizations do not identify as accounting professionals but do a great deal in managing the finances of charitable services that are transformative to their communities.

During this workshop, participants will:

  • Explore best practices and procedures for nonprofit accounting, planning, recording, and reporting of nonprofit finances.
  • Assess how the organization track grants, donations, and expenses.
  • Increase understanding of the use of nonprofit accounting statements and reports in managing funds.
  • Identify short/long-term tasks that support organization plans to receive, manage, track and account for funds.

Each participating organization will be invited to schedule a follow-up technical consulting meeting to explore and support your organization’s bookkeeping and finances strengths and areas of improvement.

This session will be facilitated by Emilie Aracil Drasher, a Partner with Baltimore Fiscal Partners. Emilie is an attorney with over 10 years experience leading and working with nonprofit organizations in Baltimore City and throughout Maryland. She graduated from the University of Maryland Francis King Carey School of Law in 2008 and was admitted to the Maryland Bar later that year. Emilie specializes in nonprofit formation and compliance, taxes, bookkeeping, budgeting, and grants management. Emilie brings her experience leading nonprofit organizations to her consulting with the nationally recognized Standards for Excellence® program. She has served on the Board of Directors for several non-profit organizations and enjoys volunteering as a pro bono attorney and is training her dog, Cabot, to become a therapy dog for Baltimore’s children’s hospitals.
