DESCRIPTION:South Baltimore Gateway Partnership (SBGP)\, in partnership with Baltimore City Department of Recreation and Parks (BCRP)\, issued a competitive design-build request for proposals (RFP) for the renovation and expansion of Carroll Park Recreation Center in late 2021. SBGP and BCRP are thrilled to announce that MCN Build and JRS Architects – as a team MCN|JRS – has been selected as the design-build team for this innovative project! \nTo best serve the community\, SBGP\, BCRP\, and MCN|JRS will host a community engagement meeting to facilitate community feedback. In this effort\, the team will inform the community about the early stages of design\, and residents will be able to respond openly to the concepts brought forward. This meeting will take place on Wednesday\, October 26th\, from 6:00 – 7:00pm at the Southwest Baltimore Charter School (1300 Herkimer St.\, Baltimore\, MD 21223) with a virtual option (via Zoom). DESCRIPTION:Many individuals serving nonprofit organizations do not identify as accounting professionals but do a great deal in managing the finances of charitable services that are transformative to their communities. \nDuring this workshop\, participants will: \n\nExplore best practices and procedures for nonprofit accounting\, planning\, recording\, and reporting of nonprofit finances.\nAssess how the organization track grants\, donations\, and expenses.\nIncrease understanding of the use of nonprofit accounting statements and reports in managing funds.\nIdentify short/long-term tasks that support organization plans to receive\, manage\, track and account for funds.\n\nEach participating organization will be invited to schedule a follow-up technical consulting meeting to explore and support your organization’s bookkeeping and finances strengths and areas of improvement. \nThis session will be facilitated by Emilie Aracil Drasher\, a Partner with Baltimore Fiscal Partners. Emilie is an attorney with over 10 years experience leading and working with nonprofit organizations in Baltimore City and throughout Maryland. She graduated from the University of Maryland Francis King Carey School of Law in 2008 and was admitted to the Maryland Bar later that year. Emilie specializes in nonprofit formation and compliance\, taxes\, bookkeeping\, budgeting\, and grants management. Emilie brings her experience leading nonprofit organizations to her consulting with the nationally recognized Standards for Excellence® program.
